ICEAS Sequencing Batch Reactors

The conventional Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) activated sludge process operates on the fill and draw principle. The unit processes of fill, react, settle, decant and idle occur sequentially on a cyclic basis. In the conventional SBR configuration, flow is diverted from the basin during settling and decanting. This requires conventional SBRs to have two or more basins or an influent equalization tank to receive flow when basins are settling and decanting.

Sanitaire can provide a conventional SBR but recommends the superior flexibility of the ICEASĀ® (Intermittent Cycle Extended Aeration) design, which does not require any flow diversion. The Sanitaire ICEAS process, a variant of the conventional (SBR) process, provides continuous inflow in a single basin, even during settle and decant phases of the operating cycle.
